Eucalyptus Essential Oil

Eucalyptus essential oil is defined as – oil distilled from the leaf of eucalyptus plants. Eucalyptus oil has been widely used as an antiseptic, for flavoring, as a fragrance, in pharmaceuticals, as an insect repellent, and for other industrial uses.

Essential Oil

Eucalyptus is one of the most commonly used essential oils with a wide variety of practical and cosmetic applications. It has been used traditionally in aromatherapy to repel mosquitoes and is used therapeutically for dry skin, stomach flu, congestion, neuralgia, cough, influenza and many other conditions. Eucalyptus has also been traditionally used as an antibacterial, anti fungal, anti-parasitic, anti inflammatory, decongestant and anti-parasitic agent.

When using eucalyptus essential oil externally it is primarily used to treat skin problems such as dry skin, itchy skin, scaly skin inflammation. It is also useful for treating such common conditions as sinusitis, bronchitis, pneumonia, diarrhea and indigestion, and as an anti fungal, anti inflammatory, antibacterial, and anti inflammatory agent.

Aromatherapy

Using an essential oil diffuser helps to disperse the oil more evenly throughout the room for aromatherapy. Essential oil diffusers can be used as an effective and economical method to prepare a room filled with aromatic sents. Essential oil diffusers come in several sizes and are designed for easy and efficient use at home or anywhere where one would like to diffuse the essential oil.

Limitations

While essential oil diffusers can be quite effective at spreading the oil throughout a room, using eucalyptus essential oil directly on skin that is severely damaged by chemical peels, acne treatments, or any other skin treatments could result in increased sensitivity to the area and further dryness. The skin benefits of eucalyptus oil may be limited to its effect on skin irritation and dryness. While many people find that topical application eucalyptus oil helps to alleviate skin discomfort when it comes in contact with dry, itchy skin, it should be used with caution when applying it to inflamed or sensitive skin.
